Dr. Talnack has worked in both public programs and private industry. Her major interest is in the transfer
of technologies from publicly funded research to small businesses in order to commercialize technology to
create new business opportunities. Dr. Talnack's career in Technology Transfer and Business Development
has spanned over 25 years as a Technology Transfer and Commercialization Specialist. She holds a Doctorate
in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Southern California, Finance and Marketing (MBA,
the University of New Mexico), and International Management (Masters in International Management,
Thunderbird University). The following highlights her background working with small businesses and their
partners in the SBIR/STTR programs:
- Worked with over 300 new technologies in electronics, bio-medical, pharmaceutical, computer hardware and software, environmental science, etc.
- Raised over $50 million in private seed capital to leverage over $60 million from federal grants.
- Written over 300 business plans, over 500 technical proposals and strategic plans.
- Conducted workshops for the California Small Business Development Centers, Sandia National Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and National Small Business Innovation Research Conferences.
- Assisted in partnering small businesses with technical support on their projects with scientists and engineers from 5 different federal research laboratories, over 30 research universities and 25 different corporations.
- She is a winner of the SBA and National Science Foundation's Tibbets SBIR Advocate of the Year award.
